National Pension / 国民年金

The National Pension is a system to provide support for the elderly, or for those who become permanently disabled due to illness or injury.

Those living in Japan who are aged between 20 and 60 can receive the pension from age 65 as long as they pay the required amounts.

Individuals who are not members of employee pension plans (typically only available to those who work full time) are required to enter into the National Pension. Please submit any required documents relating to this to the Citizens’ Section of the city hall. Pension fees change yearly.

Individuals who have paid into the pension for at least 10 years are eligible to receive pension benefits from the age of 65.

If you have paid into the pension for at least 6 months and have returned to your home country to live within 10 years, you can apply to have a portion of this money refunded to you.

Those who become permanently disabled due to illness or injury or have family members who had paid into the pension but died, are also able to receive pension money.

国民年金は、高齢になったときや病気、けがなどで障がいが残ったときに、安心して生活ができるようにする制度です。

日本に住んでいる20歳から60歳の人は、決まったお金を払うと、65歳になったときに、年金（お金）を受け取ることができます。

厚生年金（会社で働く人が入る）に入っていない人は、国民年金に必ず入ります。市役所 市民課の窓口に書類を提出してください。保険料は毎年変わります。

保険料を10年以上支払った人は65歳から年金を受け取ることができます。

保険料を6か月以上支払って、10年未満で帰国したときは、帰国してから2年以内に請求すると、脱退一時金を受け取ることができます。

病気やけがで障がいが残った人や、保険料を支払っていた家族が亡くなった人なども、年金を受け取ることができる場合があります。
