Getting to know your neighborhood
The people in your neighborhood can act as a form of support if you're ever in trouble. It's important to try to communicate with them even if you don't speak Japanese well. Your neighbors can provide you with a variety of information, such as how to go shopping, how to put your garbage out for disposal, how to raise your children, and may help you in the event of an emergency. Please make an effort to speak to your neighbors.
"Chonaikai", "Jichikai" (Neighborhood Associations)
Neighborhood Associations help to support local citizens and provide opportunities for exchange. They are made up of people from the local community.
You are free to decide whether you want to join or not. They provide information about daily life in the community and allow you to get to know your neighbors.
