Former Shotokan, Matsuyama House (Uchide Branch Library)

Yohei Matsuyama purchased this bank building, which was located in Osaka, and used it as his "Shotokan", storage for Buddhist art. It was registered as a National Tangible Cultural Property in 2008. It now serves as the Uchide Branch Library.

Have You Heard of "Jichikai" (Neighborhood Associations)?

"Jichikai" are associations organized and run by neighborhood residents.
Get to know your neighbors so you can help each other out in daily life or in case of a disaster.

What "Jichikai" do

  • Plan events and festivals to encourage friendly neighborhood relations.
  • Work to keep the neighborhood clean and prevent crime.

To join your nearest "Jichikai"

  • Visit the head of your "Jichikai" and let him or her know that you want to join.
  • Ask your neighbors how to join.

If you don't know who the head of your "Jichikai" is, visit the Citizens' Participation Section, Ashiya City Hall.
