 Main Municipal Library has been renovated

    From Tuesday to Friday, 9:30 a.m.-7:00 p.m.
    Saturday, Sunday and public holiday, 9:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m.
    (Opening hours are extended.)
  • Closed: Every Monday, 1st Tuesday of every month, December29 to January 4 

Brighter LED lights and renewed guide signs have made it easier to find books you want.

Introduction to the library

  • Who can borrow books from the library?
    ・Residents of Ashiya City, Nishinomiya City, Amagasaki City, Takarazuka City, Itami City, Kawanishi City, Sanda City and Inagawa Town (7 cities and 1 town in Hanshin)
    ・People working or attending schools in Ashiya City
  • When you visit the library for the first time, please show a document with your address at the reception counter so that your library card can be issued.
  • Note: Everyone can browse books in the library.
  • Rules to use the library
    Materials in the library are to be shared by everyone. Please follow the rules so that everyone can use the library comfortably.
    ・Things not allowed: writing in or cutting out from materials, folding pages, attaching sticky notes and getting them wet.
    ・If you tear or spoil materials, do not repair them by yourself. Please seek advice at the reception counter.
    ・Please do not reserve seats with your bags/belongings so that as many people as possible can use the seats.
    ・Do not eat or drink in the library (except in Refresh Corner).

Some events such as story time and movie show are held in the library. Please refer to the website(external site) (open link in new window) .

  • Fireworks show: 7:45–8:30p.m.(at Shio-Ashiya Beach)

Hyogo Emergency Net

This service sends out emergency information by email when an earthquake or tsunami occurs.
It is available in 13 languages: (Japanese, Chinese (simplified), Chinese (traditional), English, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, Thai, and Vietnamese).The website(external site) (open link in new window)  has sign-up instructions in each language.
We encourage you to sign up.

Shio-Ashiya Exchange Center

Shio-Ashiya Exchange Center works as an evacuation site for people nearby, when a disaster such as earthquake or heavy rain occurs. 

The Center is also a consultation center for foreign people. If there is something you want to know or if you have some trouble, please consult with staff at the Center.

Child-rearing Center is a place where infants and their parents/guardians can play together. Story time and other events are also held.

  • Tsudoi no Hiroba (a gathering place) Muku Muku
     It is a place where parents/guardians and children play together and interact with other participants.
    Picture books and toys are available. You can also ask advice on your anxieties and worries about child-rearing.
    Opening hours are Monday to Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
    (Closed from noon to 1:00 p.m. for lunch break. Closed on Wednesday, Sunday, public holiday and year-end & New Year’s holidays.)

     

  • There are other Tsudoi no Hiroba as follows:
    ・Hitoshio (at Shiosai Kodomo-en)
    ・Kia Ora Club (at Hamakaze Asu no Kodomo-en)
    ・Moko Moko (at Kamimiyagawa Culture Center)
    ・Petit Ange (at Iwazono Kindergarten)
  • Some kindergartens and Child-rearing Centers also hold several gatherings.

Ashiya City has established Gender Equality Promotion Ordinance ten years ago, and has published easy-to-approach pamphlets(8pages).
You can easily understand what gender equality is with this pamphlet.
The pamphlets are available in English and Japanese, and found at the Gender Equality Center (With-us Ashiya) and Shio-Ashiya Exchange Center.

The modern paintings and three-dimensional works owned by the Museum are explained in an easy-to-understand way under the theme of “from what (materials)”, “how (technique)” and “in what way (expression)”.
