Disaster prevention drills are held to be ready for possible sediment disasters (disasters caused by landslides due to heavy rainfall and earthquakes) in the future.

Residents mainly living in the Sediment Disaster Caution Zone in Asahigaoka Elementary School District (the places colored yellow on the map)(open link in new window) will practice evacuating to Asahigaoka Elementary School. Residents not living in Asahigaoka Elementary School District can also watch the drill. There will be a talk regarding disaster prevention at the school ground. In the other venue (Okuike District), an evacuation drill, etc. will also take place.

Before the change, 25 years or more valid coverage period (the sum of the period you paid contribution to the Japanese National Pension, the coverage period of employees’ pension and the contribution exemption period) was required to receive Japanese National Pension from 65 years old.

From August 1, 2017, you can receive Japanese National Pension as long as you have the valid coverage period of 10 years or more.

Even if your coverage period is less than 10 years, you still may be entitled to receive Japanese National Pension.

If you have a coverage period of a country listed below, you may be eligible to receive Japanese National Pension as the qualifying periods of the National Pension in Japan and that of the country you previously lived may be combined.

A regular cancer screening (medical examination) is recommended in order to prevent cancer.

The purpose of comprehensive medical examination is to find cancer as early as possible.

Comprehensive medical examinations at Ashiya Municipal Hospital offer various examinations such as chest CT, gastroscope, breast/uterine cancer screening and prostate cancer screening.

Medical examination finishes within a half day and doctors explain the results of the exams afterwards. At a later date detailed results will be sent to your home. Some examinations, such as medical check-up of the brain, can be added.

Basic course of 25,000 yen is available for people who are covered by National Health Insurance or latter-stage elderly healthcare system in Ashiya City. (Some eligibility criteria may be applicable.)

Ashiya Municipal Hospital offers medical examinations in order to find illnesses such as diabetes and high blood pressure at an early stage and to maintain physical health. These illnesses progress fast and may become serious by the time there are discovered. Do not take it for granted that you are healthy. You may be pleased to be checked once a year at Ashiya Municipal Hospital.  Please call us to make an appointment.

Children’s Allowance is paid to the guardians of children aged 0 to 15 (until the first March 31^st after becoming 15 years old) living in Japan.

If you have not claimed the allowance after moving to Ashiya City or have a new born baby, please apply at Children’s Subsection, Childrearing Promotion Section. The payment will start from the following month from the application.
